Research Information
Selank is a synthetic heptapeptide built from the immunomodulatory tetrapeptide tuftsin with a Pro-Gly-Pro extension added at the C-terminus. That extension is the reason it survives peptidase exposure far longer than tuftsin itself, which is what made it usable as a research tool.
It appears in in-vitro work on GABAergic and serotonergic receptor expression, on BDNF and enkephalin-degrading enzyme activity, and in cytokine-profile assays on cultured immune cells. It is frequently paired with Semax in comparative neuropeptide panels.
