Research Information
Tesamorelin is a 44-residue analogue of growth hormone-releasing hormone carrying a trans-3-hexenoyl group on the N-terminal tyrosine. That single acyl modification is what slows enzymatic degradation relative to native GHRH, while leaving receptor recognition intact.
In the laboratory it is used to stimulate GHRH receptors in pituitary cell models, to study cAMP/PKA signalling downstream of the receptor, and as a reference agonist when characterising GHRH analogues or antagonists. It also appears in comparative work against shorter secretagogue fragments.
Supplied as a lyophilised powder. Reconstitute gently with bacteriostatic water, keep refrigerated after reconstitution, and aliquot before freezing.
